Princess Pumpkin

(Sorry for the grainy pictures. I took these with my camera phone since our REAL camera is in the shop! )

Dale actually got a night off in October. I think this is the 2nd time in 13 years the Haunted House has not opened. WOW.
**Ashlee and I were definately not complaining to have daddy home!!***
We took advantage of this rare opportunity and finally carved our pumpkin! Ashlee came up with the design and even helped with the drawing. Dale did most of the cleaning, carving and art work, but somehow I got stuck with sticking my hand in and scooping out the goopy insides! Ok, maybe I like that part, but don't tell anyone. LOL. Ashlee thought it was hilarious and would touch it, but not stick her hands inside the pumpkin.
So, "Princess Pumpkin" (named by Ashlee of course) joined our family last night. We are so happy to have her (him?) around for the holiday fun!

A visit from mammy and papa

As I have said before, I soooooooooooo wish my mom and dad lived here! There are so many fun things I would love for them to enjoy with us. Sigh...but them being far away makes us enjoy our time with them that much more! They came out to visit this past weekend for a few days and it couldn't have been better timing. I've been having alot of problems with my back lately, so it was nice to have a little break and some help taking care of (entertaining) Ashlee. We had a great time hanging out around the house (they helped me with some much needed fixes), visiting Anderson Farms, checking out the haunted house (my mom and dad loved it), and playing, playing and MORE playing! We were so sad to see them go, in fact, the minute we got home Ashlee looked at me and said "Let's go get mammy and papa".
We already can't wait to go visit them in December (or as Ashlee would say "SOON")!

We took a trip up to Anderson Farms, my favorite place to visit in the fall!

i don't think i'm in charge anymore...

a blonde haired, blue eyed, 2 year old little cutie has taken over. Really, I don't know why I bother sometimes, she's got it all under control. Our conversation at bed time last night:

Me: Ok Ash, time for bed.

Ash (goes to her door and holds the door open): you go to bed now mama. you close your eyes and turn your tv off.

me (chuckling): ok, night-night. i love you.

Ash: i wuv you. you tell me if you don't want to go to work and you go to school with me. you tell me if you go to work. i go to school.

me (still chuckling): ok honey. sounds good!

Ash: now you go lay in bed and close your eyes!

Now, who can argue with that?

I've been thinking a lot lately...

of getting Ashlee a pet for her birthday in December. I don't really want to get a puppy during the winter (its no fun potty training them in 20 degree weather) so I'm not sure what to get her. A fish? A turtle? A bird?

Does anyone have some suggestions? Thank you!

A Patchin' We Went!

and was it ever HOT! Denver set a new record high on Sunday, and that's the day we picked to head to Chatfield for their pumpkin festival. Whoo-hooo, I should have worn shorts and a tank top!

We met my best friend Brooke, her 10 month old Lexi, and Brooke's mom, Toni, at the festival. They had all kinds of rides and blow up obsticle courses, face painting, tractor rides, vendor booths, FOOD, a corn maze and of course the pumpkin patch. I was a bit disappointed in the patch, there were few pumpkins left and what was there was stomped on and smooshed (Ashlee said the pumpkins had "owies"). I'll be honest with you, I wasn't that impressed with the festival. It was over priced, and nothing was included in the ticket price except the patch and maze. Next year we will definately go back to Anderson Farms.

However, we still had a great time and got some cute pictures!

Fun with Fingerpaints!

I've been bugging my friend Laura for these pictures for awhile and she finally sent them!
Thank you!

Before I went back to work at the end of August, we got together one last time with our friends Tyler, Austin, Carson and Baby Leah to have some fun! Tyler's mom got the fingerpaints and Sarah brought the paper. We then laid it out on the back porch and let the kiddos get down and dirty with their hands (and in Carson's case, his whole body)! The kids had a great time and really let their "artsy" sides shine through. After they were covered in paint we got the sprinkler out and let them get soaked. Ok, Carson was the only one who partook in the water fun, but Ashlee and Tyler had fun watching him, so that counts right?
How we miss these days already.

A patchin' we will go!

I am so excited the weather is going to be warm this weekend! That means its pumpkin patch time! I think we'll head up to Anderson Farms again...or maybe Chatfield. I just wish Anderson wasn't so darn far (and I wish my back would stop hurting! AGH!)

I can't wait to see what Ashlee thinks of carving pumpkins this year. My bet is on that she won't even put her hand inside. LOL.

Oh, how I love fall. I feel like it is never long enough though.

PS- Did I tell you she wants to be a dragon for Halloween? Of all the cute things out there, she picks a dragon. I have no idea where she got it either.

Family pictures 2009

Last Sunday we met my amazing photographer friend, Sarah, at a park by my work to take family pictures. It was a nice warm day, the sun was shining, the fall colors were blazing, leaves were falling...it was perfect! However, I was nervous that Ashlee would be in one of her "moods" and not want her picture taken. My worries were unwarranted though as she did great! She had a blast looking for ladybugs and butterflies, feeding fishies to the ducks, and exploring with Dale and I. I look at these pictures and think "where has my little baby gone?" She is quickly becoming a GIRL! How time flies... Enjoy!
