First zoo trip of the summer

It has begun...zoo season! lol! We took our first (of many) trips to the zoo this past Tuesday. Sarah and I could tell the kids were out of practice with their "zoo etiquette" because they were all SO crazy! Carson almost got eaten by a peacock! :)

We had a great time and can't wait for the many, many, many more trips to see all the cool animals! ESPECIALLY since I can now walk without being in pain...lovin' it!

Go Nuggets!

Dj, Ashlee, Kira, Aunt Jen, Uncle Steven and Camden

Ashlee is just now getting to the age were her attention span is more than 20 minutes, so that is opening up a whole new array of family activities for us! YEAH! So we took her to her very first sporting event, to see the Nuggets BEAT the Memphis Grizzlies!

At first, Ash wasn't too sure about the whole thing. Her ears are very sensitive (she won't even be in the same room when I vacuum or run the hair dryer) so she didn't like all the loud noise. I think she was a bit overwhelmed at everything going on too, but by half-time she was having a blast. She did a great job of staying in her seat and cheering on the Nuggets! I think next year we will have to frequent Pepsi Arena alot more!

BIG girl Bed!

Wow. Where does time go? It seems like just yesterday we were putting together Ash's crib, and now we are converting her toddler bed to a big girl bed! Seriously?
Ash LOVES her new bed! She sleeps great in it and hasn't rolled out once (crossing my fingers)! So do Dale and I, her bed is soooo comfy and its much nicer to lay in it and read her books than on the floor. I also love the cute little flower and lady bug bedding my parents bought her for Easter. It matches everything perfectly (especially the giant ladybug pillow she already had)! Thanks mammy and papa!

Lately Ashlee has been talking alot about "growing up" (probably because I mention how much BIGGER she's getting everyday)!! She's always reminding me how she's growing "big and strong". She loves to reach her hands as high as she can and run around the house seeing what new things she can touch. It was so funny, the other day I said "Ashlee, you sure are getting big" she quickly replied "No mom, I already am!" :)

Days of the week

Ashlee and her cousin Zach singing "Days of the Week"

Just some cute pics

I like to think of this blog as my "back-up" just in case anything happened to the computers (like our house burned down, awful, I know). I'm a worrier, so I think of that stuff. So I like to post as many pics on here as possible. Also, I know one day Ashlee will sit down and read all this and be so thankful I did this. Well, at least I hope so! :)

Easter

Oh how I love Colorado. We were blessed (yet again) with another gorgeous day on Easter Sunday. My sister-in-law's parents were kind enough to invite us over for an amazing meal. They even put a little basket together for Ashlee, so thoughtful! We all had a wonderful time, ate way too much delicious food (the wings, oh the wings), and got some much needed Vitamin D and family time!
Even at 3, Ashlee still didn't quite get the whole "Easter" thing, so when she woke up and saw a basket full of goodies outside her door she said "Hey! Hey! Hey!" in her cute, silly voice. Then she asked "now what's this?" It was cute! That silly Easter bunny had a hole in his sack when he got to our house and left a trail of candy too! :)
Peanut with her basket of goodies from the Easter Bunny. She got matching gardening gloves, shovel and rake to help me plant flowers this spring! Good job EB!

First day back at swim lessons

Its been awhile since Ash and I took swim lessons, so I thought it'd be fun to get back into them since I'm not working. I enrolled her in the parent/tot classes at Utah pool. Our first lesson was tonight.

Let's just say she was BY FAR the oldest child in the class! Everyone was 1 or under! And I'd also like to mention that my daughter was the only one clinging on to me with dear life! Jeez, you'd think she'd never been in the water before. As the little "ice-breaker" at the beginning they sing Hokey-Pokey. Well, no sooner did I start swishing her around she busted out bawling. Really, she's 3, come one now. I got her calmed down, and after a few more minutes she was actually smiling. Then they had us wrap noodles around them so they could get used to the feeling of swimming on their stomachs and kicking their legs. She looked at me and said "I don't want one of those!" I explained to her that it was just like her Dora life vest. She thought this explanation was sufficient and let me put it on her. She LOVED it! So much so that when lessons were over she was yet bawling AGAIN!

Sometimes you just can't win with a 3 year old! :)
